Highway Guardrail Standards

We manufacture highway guardrails mainly according to China standard, USA standard, Euro, Germany standard and other international standards, listed as below:

AASHTO-M180 (Corrugated Sheet Steel Beams For Highway Guardrail – USA)
AASHTO-M180 is a safety standard from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). This standard sets requirements for the design, fabrication, testing, installation, and quality assurance of W-beam guardrail systems. The guardrail systems must consist of components that are designed to reduce risks to vehicle occupants in case of an impact. The standards also require that guardrails be made with durable materials and must include specific elements such as absorptive ends and adequate reflectivity for visibility. Specific details about the design requirements for the guardrail systems are outlined in the AASHTO M180 standard.

AS/NZS 3845:1999(Road Safety Barrier Systems – Australia/New Zealand)
The Highway Guardrail Standards AS/NZS 3845:1999 (Road Safety Barrier Systems – Australia/New Zealand) are standards for designing and installing guardrail systems along the side of roads and highways in Australia and New Zealand, with a focus on reducing the severity of impacts when vehicles leave the road. The standard sets out design and construction requirements for guardrail systems, including specified dimensions, rail heights, materials, anchorages, and connections. It also outlines requirements for crash testing, maintenance, and inspection. As safety is a key priority, the standard requires that guardrail systems be designed to protect vehicle occupants and other road users from injury in the event of an accident.

BS EN-1317(Road Restraint Systems – Europe)
The European standard for road restraint systems known as BS EN-1317 specifies various criteria for the design, construction, installation, testing and maintenance of guardrails and other roadside safety systems. The standard covers guardrail systems which are intended to be used on both urban and rural roads and includes details on the selection of materials, general requirements for installation and designation of ratings for different products and applications. The standard also details requirements for assessment and testing of barriers in order to prove their compliance with the standard. The standard is applicable to all types of roadside safety systems such as guardrail and barrier systems, crash cushions and crash barriers.

RAL RG620 (Germany)
The Highway Guardrail Standards RAL RG620 is a German regulation for crash-tested road restraint systems. It is applicable to road safety barriers and guardrails designed to protect vehicles from roadside obstacles, and is intended to reduce the risk of injury and collateral damage in case of an accident. The standard applies to all guardrail systems that use tensioned steel posts with corrugated panels as the main elements. It provides detailed specifications for the design and installation of the system, and also recommends test methods and quality control criteria to ensure the reliability and safety of the guardrails.

Qatar construction specification (q.c.s).
The Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) cover the technical requirements for highway guardrail standards in the country. These standards provide guidelines on installation, materials, testing and maintenance of guardrail installations. The requirements cover a variety of guardrail types including semi-rigid, extruded, flexible and permanent guardrails. The QCS also provides important information on assessing guardrail performance with respect to safety, durability and service life. Additionally, the standards include information on inspecting guardrail systems in accordance with ISO 14644-2 and relevant international codes.

JT/T 281-1995(Corrugated Sheet Steel Beams For Expressway Guardrail – China)
The Highway Guardrail Standard JT/T 281-1995 is a Chinese standard for Corrugated Sheet Steel Beams used for Expressway Guardrail. It is a product specification that covers the design, construction, and performance requirements of corrugated sheet steel beams for safety barrier systems (guardrails) along highways and expressways. The standard includes design and performance criteria for guardrail crashworthiness, crash resistance, and crash attenuation. Additionally, it covers the material specifications, test methods, marking, inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair criteria for these products.

Guard Rails Systems conforming to other standards / customized dimensions can be offered.
